muhibbah spirit.

it was 1999 I think, the first time I heard about Wawasan 2020.
it was futuristic, with flying cars and flying skateboards.
and the Ah Chong, Raju and Ali will live happily and peacefully.
said Puan Rohayu, my bahasa teacher, quoting the then Datuk Seri Dr Mahathir Mohamad.
when she tell us to write about Bangsa Malaysia and Wawasan 2020.
to be exact when I asked too many questions about those visions of our 4th PM.
I always asked too many questions when I was a kid.
I stopped asking when I started to think about the questions myself.
Puan Rohayu gave us a lot of homework especially if it's Raya Holiday.
never heard of her at all after I moved to Rawang in 2000.
in fact I never heard of any of my schoolmates of SKSHAS class of 1997.

anyways.

back then in school we had a game
played during recess called pepsi cola.
i think most of us knew this game
of course until today it's a mystery why the game is called pepsi cola.

pepsi cola is basically a game where we try to step other's white chalked bata shoes
with one try. and after the try, you cannot move your leg. but if you stepped a person's shoes, you can continue try again to another person.

i have a friend, vinodh is his name.
he's a rich boy and i find him quite intimidating eventhough he's friendly.
i think it's because of his height.
and because of that, too he's a heck of a 'pepsi cola' player.

lim kar seng was another regular player in my class.
he's a veteren with a quick feet despite having quite big stature.
then again, everyone is tall for me during my school days.
damn.

and then there's me.
small, yet i have a great advantage,
my shoes are black. a very important aspect to the game,
because my mom won't find out my shoes are dirty.
then again shes always busy with her works it's impossible for her to notice my shoes pun.

we always step on each other shoes, happily.
most importantly what i want to say is we all had fun playing 'pepsi cola'.
i guess that is what bangsa Malaysia, and 1 Malaysia (what they call now) is all about.

stepping on each other without reasons and call it fun.

well. it was.. until the bell rings.
